How to make unique and beautiful balsa wood jewelry box

balsa box

Are you tired of the classic balsa wood jewelry box and you want a unique support for jewelry. Or you want to make a special gift to a loved one. Here is an idea for a unique and beautiful jewelry box. You need craft sticks and glue and you can start working on your craft stick jewelry box.
  • Make sure you have everything you need to start making your craft stick jewelry box. A package of craft sticks that you can buy from any craft store or Popsicle sticks, craft glue, wax paper and some buttons or any other object to decorate the box.
  • Make the bottom of the jewelry box by lining up craft sticks side-by-side on the wax paper. Be sure you keep them from moving.
  • Put glue on the back of two more craft sticks and place them on top at each end of the box base.
  • Glue more craft sticks until you create a frame or a square. Keep doing this until you create the height of your box you are satisfied with.
  • Now you can make the box lid. The procedure in the same: lay craft sticks and glue them side-by-side.
  • You can glue a picture of you on the lid, if you want to keep it or of your mom, if you want to make her a gift. You can also use colored Popsicle sticks or glue buttons on the lid or you can embellish the jewelry box with craft jewels. This is a wonderful craft stick jewelry box for kids to make for mom or grandma.

Painted Balsa Wood Christmas Trees

balsa

The kids and I Finally, something Christmassy!
balsa

The girls and I painted Christmas trees last weekend.

The blanks themselves are as gorgeous as the painted trees.
We sat at our kitchen table with our acrylic paints,
paintbrushes and toothpicks, and painted.
Jenna did these:

That purple-and-yellow tree is just beautiful.
I think it is my favorite.
I painted, too

but I think I got the snow position reversed on this tree.

And this one, on hindsight, looks like a caterpillar.

I liked this one, at least.

One out of three. Ah, well.
They look pretty together, anyway.

Especially out in the snow. The real 24-degree snow.

Which, now that it has finally hit us,
is making it look a lot like Christmas0.

Happy Advent, everyone!

Coasters Made From Wood Slices

balsa

The kids and I had a go at making our own wooden coasters. I got the idea here at design sponge. The ones they made are just a little more fancy.

The kids love this kind of activity. I got them to draw out their design directly onto the wood in light pencil and then they painted it in. We decided on a color palette before beginning otherwise they tend put every color in. After making these I thought we should have just stuck to red and white and made some valentine's decorations. Oh well, next time.

My son got his first set of acrylic paints for his birthday last year and they are perfect for projects like this one.

I bought the wood slices on Etsy, here. Next step is to polish them and I think we'll use beeswax polish because it is so easy with little ones.

Building Block Art - For Boys

My kids LOVE to build with blocks. Lately my preschooler has been impressing us with his creations and detail in his buildings. So I thought it would be fun to add some architectural details for him to play with. Everyone thought this was quite fun and I was soon bombarded with requests for dinosaurs and kitty cats! Children were waiting in line to challenge mommy's artistic abilities with sharpies.

I had taken these pics of the original windows and bushes I surprised the kids with before everything got crazy. I suppose I should have made some doors.... Now instead of thinking we have way to many blocks I'm wishing we had one more of that size or that shape so we could make whatever at that moment. If your kids are old enough they will love drawing the details on themselves! I attempted to allow my preschooler to draw the bulldozer he requested, because he has much more practice at drawing machinery, but he must have gotten stage freight, we ended up with a scribble mess, but he had fun!

Enjoy balsa wood crafts here And make it in simple ways

we shows how easy it is to craft with balsa wood. It's available in sheets at the craft store, can be cut with an exacto knife, and glued with craft glue or hot glue.
